This privacy policy explains how Sophos Law Firm, PLLC (“our,” “us“, “we,” or “Sophos Law”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information we receive through your use of our website, www.sophoslaw.com, (the “Site”). By accessing our Site, you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy.

Please do not access our Site if you do not agree with anything included in this privacy policy.

We may change or add to this privacy policy in the future, so you are encouraged to review it periodically. If we make a substantive change to this privacy policy, we will attempt to notify you by posting a change notice on our Site. If any modification we make to this privacy policy is unacceptable to you, you should immediately stop accessing our Site. Your continued use of our Site following notice of a change will constitute your binding acceptance of the changes.

1.       Information We Collect and How We Use It

Sophos Law may collect Personal Information (defined below) from Site visitors at different points. Generally, we collect Personal Information when you provide it directly to us.

1.1.       Personal Information Defined

The term “Personal Information” as used in this privacy policy refers to information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact an individual or information that, when used together with other information, can be used to identify, locate, or contact an individual. Personal Information does not include any information posted on any public portion of our Site.

1.2.       Information We Collect

You are not required to register as a user to access the Site. However, we automatically gather certain information and store it in log files. This information includes:

  • Your internet protocol (IP) address
  • Your internet browser type
  • Your internet service provider (ISP)
  • Referring and/or exit pages
  • Your device’s operating system
  • The date/time stamp
  • Your clickstream data (data on how you navigate our Site).

If you are accessing the Site from a mobile device, we may also gather the device type and mobile network information. More information on the types of information automatically collected and how the information is collected can be found in Section 2 below.

While you are not required to do so, you can contact us through the Site and provide us with Personal Information, such as your name and email. DO NOT SEND US CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION unless you have express authorization to do so from one of our attorneys. Sophos Law does not have a duty to treat non-client information as confidential and will not do so.

1.3.       How We Use Your Information

All of the information you provide to us while accessing our Site will be used to properly display and provide access to our Site or improve our Site. If you opt to contact us through our Site, we will use the information you provide to contact and respond to your message.

2.       Tracking Technology Used

When you access our Site, we collect certain information by automated or electronic means, using technologies such as cookies, pixel tags and web beacons, browser analysis tools, and server logs. As you use our Site, your browser and devices communicate with servers managed by our trusted service providers to record the interactivity and to fulfill your requests for our Site.

2.1       Google Analytics

We also use tools provided by Google, such as Google Analytics, to track use of the Site. If you would like to opt out of third party tracking via Google Analytics, please visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Please note that disabling cookies may disable many of the features available through the Site. We therefore recommend that you leave cookies enabled.

2.2.       Do Not Track

Because there is no current industry standard, Sophos Law does not recognize or respond to browser-initiated Do Not Track signals.

3.      Security

Although no data transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we follow generally accepted standards to protect information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. These standards are reasonably designed to:

(i) Ensure the security and confidentiality of your information;

(ii) Protect against any anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity of your records and information; and

(iii) Protect against unauthorized access to or use of your records or information that could result in substantial harm or inconvenience to you or any Site visitor.

4.      Information We Disclose and When We Disclose It

We will not disclose your Personal Information to third parties except to:

(i) Companies affiliated with us who may only use your Personal Information for the purposes described in Section 1.3 above.

(ii) Our service providers who are bound by law or contract to protect your Personal Information and are only allowed to use your Personal Information in accordance with our agreements with them.

(iii) Effect a merger or acquisition or to support the sale or transfer of business assets. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Sophos Law may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this privacy policy.

(iv) Enforce our rights, protect our property, protect the rights, property or safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a legitimate government request, or as needed to support auditing, compliance, and corporate governance functions.

(v) We may also disclose Personal Information to defend ourselves in litigation or a regulatory action, and when required or advised to do so by law, such as in response to a subpoena, or similar legal process, including to law enforcement agencies, regulators, and courts in the United States and other countries where we operate.

5.      Links to Other Sites

This privacy policy applies only to information we collect while you access the Site. Our Site contains links to other websites that are not owned or controlled by us. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.

We encourage you to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects your information.

6.      Resumes and Information Submitted

If you are interested in applying for an employment position with Sophos Law, we will use the resumes and information submitted to us to determine whether or not your employment inquiry will be given consideration for any job openings available at the time of your application. Such information and resumes are not distributed outside of Sophos Law.
